WhatsApp blocked in China, though past bans proved temporary

Image
WhatsApp has been widely blocked in mainland China by the country’s government, with text messaging as well as photo and video sharing not currently functional. However, WhatsApp had previously been blocked in the country and saw those blocks lifted within a few days, so it’s unclear how long the chat app may remain inaccessible. The New York Times reported today that WhatsApp had been “broadly disrupted in China.” TechCrunch has received reports that while many users lost access beginning Sunday night, some in mainland China can still send and receive WhatsApp messages. WhatsApp declined to comment on the blockage. WhatsApp’s ability to send videos, photos and files was blocked in China in July, but allowed again a few weeks later. It’s possible that the shut down is in anticipation of the Communist Party’s congress to be held in Beijing next month. WhatsApp may have been targeted because of its strong encryption features lacked by services like Skype and Apple’s FaceTime

Iphone 8 specs, features, price

Today’s the day that the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are in stores across the world. The iPhone 8 isn’t the exciting new Apple product this fall — that honor is reserved for the forthcoming iPhone X — but it is the new, mainstream iPhone that m illions of people will be buying this year and next. You already know what the iPhone 8 looks like — it’s just like the last three generations of iPhones, but with a glass back. That glass back enables one new feature, wireless charging, and it makes the phone a little more comfortable to hold and a lot less slippery than its predecessors. Otherwise, the iPhone 8 is the traditionalist iPhone, complete with a 16:9 screen in either 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch sizes, a home button with TouchID, and a single or dual rear camera. There are a number of other new features under the hood, so we’ve rounded up all of our coverage on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus here for easy reference. She wrote:"To celebrate July 15 Martyr's Day, I began the morning by getting my period. I am celebrating the day by bleeding representing the martyrs blood,"  The organisers who saw the tweet after the beauty contest’s results were announced were forced to hold an hours-long meeting to reach a conclusio
