Liverpool captain Gerrard, who turns 35 on the day of the final, had hoped to bring down the curtain on his Anfield career with a third FA Cup winner's medal, but instead it is Tim Sherwood's Villa who will tackle holders Arsenal on May 30. Manchester - Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini refused to be drawn into a war of words with Yaya Toure's outspoken agent after a 2-0 win over West Ham kept his side on course for a Champions League place. However, Sunday's victory at Eastlands was marred by an injury to David Silva, who was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured cheekbone and injured collar bone. But before kick-off there was another headache for under-pressure City boss Pellegrini following incendiary comments from Dimitri Seluk. Toure's agent branded Pellegrini a "weak manager" and accused the club's Spanish executives Ferran Sorriano and Txiki Begiristain of failing to take responsibility and blaming his client for City's problems this season. Pellegrini, when asked to respond to Seluk's claims, would only say "no comment". But the latest potential disagreement with Toure will only cast more uncertainty on the the Ivory Coast internati

An Ijaw group called the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, over the weekend asked President Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, before he leaves as president of Nigeria on May 29th. "Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons, who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country. Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanced. Muhammadu Buhari to avoid former President Olusegun Obasanjo.....Read more below Owie, who gave the advice in a statement yesterday in Benin City, Edo State, said: “To Buhari, I thank God for you, but you must deliver on your promises and also build on what President Goodluck Jonathan did. Above all, you must run far from Obasanjo. If he can’t control your government, he will fight you. He has done it to all former Presidents of Nigeria and even against MKO Abiola who was not sworn in. Never discuss with Obasanjo unless you have at least two of your aides present.
